Mattress and Mattress overlays choice
The first fundamental step is the assessment of the patient’s risk of decubitus. After a careful
examination by the medical staff, it is advisable to determine the need to use an anti decubitus
mattress or, in some cases, a mattress overlay to be applied over a conventional mattress.
There are also mattresses for stretchers, suitable for patients with a low risk of skin lesions.
What risk of bedsores does the patient have?
Type of closures
The choice of the ideal cover is crucial: the material that composes it must reduce the risk of the
patient’s skin damage as much as possible, guaranteeing the breathability of the fabrics.
The cover must also protect the surface of the mattress from dirt and liquids: that is why we
can propose different types of materials and closures.

Mattress overlays and mattresses
in polyurethane foam
Polyurethane foam mattresses have excellent characteristics in terms of:
Resilience: polyurethane foam mattresses have an excellent elasticity, even under high pressures they manage to return to their own original form;
Density: the specific weight of the expanded polyurethane foam has a high density, which improves its quality and durability;
Breathability: the foam mattresses, thanks to the cellular tructure, they can perfectly disperse the heat and water vapor accumulated during the hours of rest;
Firmness: one of the most important characteristics of polyurethane. The high bearing capacity makes the mattresses able to follow the shapes of the body and to support it during rest.
The positioning cushions ensure that people subjected to special mobilization treatments have an excellent mix of comfort and adaptability.
Mattresses with base and
reinforced sides with viscoelastic internal part
The supporting structure and the stiffening edges are made of high-strength polyurethane foam (density 40 kgm3) to better support every movement of the patient. The internal surface, which can be made in 3 removable sections, is made of viscoelastic material (density 60 kg/m3) and it allows perfect adhesion of the mattress on articulated beds and facilitates sanitization by operators and the replacement of any damaged parts, reducing maintenance costs.
Only for ventilated mattress: the particular structure creates an air ventilation system that allows the reduction of patient’s sweating while promoting skin’s breathability.
